Barbara Hall – a host on WHCU for many years – died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after a prolonged illness. She was 89.

Barbara was originally from Groton, NY and graduated from Cornell University. Barbara joined WHCU in 1948 as a women’s feature reporter. When Gertrude Grover retired she became the Women’s Editor. In the mid- 1950′s she hosted a daily interview/music program on WHCU. She also co-hosted NIGHTWATCH with Don Martin from 7:00pm-9:00pm Monday thru Friday on the station. For many years Barbara interviewed travelers (over 800!) on her weekend TRAVEL TALK PROGRAM .

For nearly 40 years, she invited Ithaca High School Glee Club Alumni to the studios to present their annual live Thanksgiving Day concert on her program.
