Irene E. Barnes, age 85, formerly of Cortland, NY passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Born June 15, 1925 in Smyrna, NY, she is the daughter of the late George and Annie Wearmouth Bell and widow of the late Russell Barnes.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Art) Call of Auburn, AL and Nancy (Daryl) Hatfield of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Penny Call, Chip (Lu) Call, Billy Mowry, Sarah Hatfield and Daryl Hatfield, Jr.; nine great grandchildren including Ian and Ryan Call; one great great granddaughter; sister, Gladys Bacon of Rochester, NY; a brother, Norman Bell of Groton, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she was predeceased by her son, Howard Barnes.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Groton Rural Cemetery. Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden, NY is assisting the family.
